About this deal

Game for longer with the detachable, dual-sided, soft-touch wrist rest which has two different surfaces providing optimal comfort. There's a wide range of preset lighting configurations accessible through a drop-down menu and from there you can customize anything—color, speed, etc—fairly easily.

Corsair has been one of the leading forces in the growth of mechanical keyboards in the last five years, steadily improving, upgrading, and expanding its range and occasionally being the first to market with certain features or new switches. Dedicated Macro Keys: If you have a few functions that you do everyday, the dedicated macro keys can make everything faster. I really like them because it makes it easy to change songs when playing a video game or using any other full-screen application. The biggest improvement, though, comes courtesy of Corsair's new(ish) streaming gear subsidiary Elgato: The XT's macro keys are compatible with Elgato's Stream Deck software, allowing you to use the extra keys as a mini six-key video switcher.Cushioned Leatherette Palm Rest: Breeze through marathon gaming sessions with a soft textured cushioned leatherette palm rest. ConclusionCorsair bills the K95 RGB Platinum as its ultimate mechanical gaming keyboard, and it's easy to see why. Between that and some other neat features of the Stream Deck hardware, such as LCD buttons that you can customize with images and GIFs, I'd say that the K95 XT's software-based Stream Deck support is a great help for new players looking to experiment with pro tools or veteran players seeking a few extra streaming keys, but doesn't quite achieve parity with the actual Elgato hardware (or another discrete video mixer).

Credit is provided by Novuna Personal Finance, a trading style of Mitsubishi HC Capital (UK) PLC, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The units we tested use the same Cherry MX Speed switches, but you can get the K95 with Cherry MX Browns and the K100 with linear optical switches instead.

As has been the case for years, Corsair uses a thick, permanently attached braided cable, which makes the K95 Platinum XT a little clunky and a lot less travel-friendly than models with removable USB-C cables, like the HyperX Alloy Origins. This makes the K95 a better option for those who do all of their gaming and typing at a single battlestation. As someone who jumps between Windows and Mac often and has an Apple Arcade subscription, it's nice to have Corsair gear serve as a universal option, especially when it works as well as the K95 XT.

If you’ve used one of Corsair’s high-end mechanical keyboards in the last few years, you pretty much know what to expect in terms of physical design here. The puller is made from plastic, which we don’t recommend using because it can scratch the sides of your keycaps. The K95 RGB Platinum follows in the footsteps of Corsair's K70 RGB Rapidfire keyboard in its focus on speed. They might take some adjustment when it comes to normal typing, but this keyboard is at its best when playing games anyway. I’ve seen some folks talking about a BIOS mode on YouTube, but none of the methods used by those folks are activating anything on my keyboard. My only real complaint is that it’s a bit clunky to have two separate pieces of software for your keyboard controls. USB pass-through port provides convenient access to an additional USB port for your mouse or headset. You can rename, import, and export profiles, and set the software-based ones to auto-launch with specific applications or games. The build quality is great; it offers dedicated macro keys and is also fully RGB-lit, which is great for playing in the dark.Typing on the Cherry MX Brown switches feels much better to type on than the Cherry MX Speed on the Corsair, though both keyboards can be purchased with different types of switches. My main complaint is that, rather than strong magnets,it attaches via long plastic clips under the keyboard, which feel like they could snap off after years of use if you aren’t careful. The wrist rest is really comfortable, the textured PBT keycaps are fun to customize, and everything is quite nice across the board. Interestingly, they’re not made for routing the peripheral’s own cable, but keeping your headset wire (or anything plugged into the dedicated USB passthrough) out of the way. Using the bar to set volume is great and packs in the same excellent build quality seen on the rest of the K95.
