As much as this is a very powerful integrated battery, it could easily have been replaced with an 18650. Judging by the 34mm width of the mod it’s a viable option.

The first test was carried out with the airflow dials fully open and with a power setting of 22W (used across all airflow settings).
I started off using the IPX80 with the 0.16Ω coil. This is a mesh coil with a wattage range of 25-50W so I filled it up, waited 5 minutes, and went straight to 40W which is the recommended ‘best’ wattage. This coil is a direct lung coil no matter how you set the airflow. Even with the airflow fully closed, it’s at best a slightly restricted direct lung hit. To talk about the flavor, it’s impressive. The vapor is really tasty and nice and warm at 40W. For a pod mod the IPX80 does well in the flavor department with this coil. I used a 70VG ejuice with this coil. But once Geekvape fine-tuned the Aegis, they released the Legend series. This was a huge turning point for Geekvape, and the Aegis lineup is one of the most popular mods ever made. This is largely due to how hard it is to break them, and the fact that they are IP67 rated for waterproof functions. Geekvape became very popular with people that worked outdoors, or in construction. The SMOK IPX80 is a powerful device that comes with well-built quality and impressive design. IPX67 protection technology prevents the device from damage like water splashing, dust, shaking or accidental dropping. Overall the build quality of this device is excellent. The design isn’t exactly original but it looks good on this device. The IPX80 is going to lose some style points for the overplayed design but otherwise it gets good scores. The silicone stopper of the RPM2 pod works a treat because it’s easy to pull away using the lift tab. What a refreshing change lol!
The color of the screen can be changed by pressing the fire button and + adjustment button simultaneously. This changes the UI color to either white, blue, green, red, yellow, or purple. We highly recommend using an external battery charger for 18650 battery mods, as it helps with balanced charging and prolongs the life of the battery and mod, such as from worn out microUSB port. Never use damaged or improperly wrapped batteries with this device. We recommend all 18650/20700/21700 battery mods to use matching batteries with similar brand, model, and battery state at all times. I’m not used to fast type C charging taking this long either. Two hours seems quite a time period when compared to batteries with less capacity using the feature. Smok IPX80 Pod Kit – Everyday Use and no matter which way I view the adjustable airflow structure I’m constantly reminded of a pair of frog eyes lol! The flavor on all of the RPM series coils is really great, and it seems like SMOK has upped the game when it comes to quality control. I have not had any issues with the RPM coils. They generally last a good week or so, and I think that is par for the course when it comes to most pre-built coils. The window is translucent so viewing juice levels isn’t going to be a major problem but the RPM2 pod falls into the same trap as many others, namely being heavily recessed into the battery section.

Overall, I really liked using the SMOK IPX80 for my regular nicotine ejuices. The battery lasts for a long time no matter which coil you use and that’s a strong point of this kit. The SMOK IPX has an adjustable airflow feature that is controlled via the air inlet on each side of the device. If you prefer DTL (direct to lung) vaping, open up the airflows, install the 0.16ohm coil, and experience a flavoursome, vapour-filled vape. If you're a former smoker that prefers a tighter airflow similar to a cigarette, restrict the airflow, pop in the 0.6ohm MTL coil and enjoy. On the plus side, the RPM2 pod isn’t going to accidentally fall out either. It may be heavily recessed but four strong magnets align with those of the inner battery, securing it into place. There’s no rattling when shook and it takes a fair degree of force to remove it once connected. Impressive stuff. Just bare in mind the pod will only fit one way..
