About this deal

Pimm’s isn’t just for Wimbledon, it's for any moment the sun decides to peek from behind the clouds (even if it's only for an hour or two). Pimm's No. 5 Cup [1930s?–1970] was based on rye whisky. It was originally designed as an alternative to Pimm's No. 2 for the Canadian market. [17] Its popularity there during the postwar period encouraged Pimm's to sell it in the British market and overseas to Europe and America as well.

Pimm’s is a quintessentially British drink that has become synonymous with summer and outdoor events. The basic Pimm’s No. 1 is made with a touch of mint, some strawberries, and a small amount of cucumber. Yes, cucumber ! If you’ve never added cucumber to your Pimm’s, you don’t know what you’re missing, it adds a fresh aroma almost reminiscent of freshly cut grass. Then we add lots of ice, which is why we start off with a good amount of Pimm’s to lemonade! Pimm’s No. 1 Cup is sweet and rich, fruity and herbaceous, with subtle yet complex juniper and spice notes forming a deliciously moreish base. What kind of alcohol is Pimm’s?

Tasters thought the flavour was average in comparison to the other two. Most felt the colour was a bit too dark, and some found the strength of fruit flavour too weak. A cult classic, this tipple is a delicious blend of rum, lime, sugar and mint. Just make sure to chill in advance for the ultimate enjoyment. With May serving up not one, but THREE Bank Holiday weekends, including the Corrie Bobs (aka King Charles' coronation), it's the perfect excuse to have a glass of Pimm’s permanently in your hand. The discontinued No. 6 Vodka Cup variety was reinstated in 2015 [8] following a successful campaign led by a group of enthusiastic Vodka Cup Pimm's drinkers. [9] However, despite a promise from the parent company and Pimm's owner Diageo to keep No. 6 in production, it is no longer possible to buy Vodka Cup Pimm's.

The original Pimm’s No.1 wasn't number one for our tasters. It came last in our taste test, but it's by no means a bad choice, with a still-high score of 70%, a few percentage points behind the supermarket products. Elegantly smooth and complex, this refreshing G&T offers notes of zesty citrus orange followed by sweet lime. Pimm’s prices have increased slightly for 2023, but one thing hasn't changed - you can nearly always find it on offer somewhere, so it's worth shopping around to avoid overpaying. Pimm’s also comes in one-litre bottles. If you find this on offer, it's a better-value way to buy the brand (sometimes even cheaper than the 70cl version). The event is known for its beautiful gardens, but it’s also a great place to enjoy a Pimm’s Cup. The drink is often served in the hospitality tents, where guests can relax and enjoy the stunning surroundings. Pimm’s at Royal Ascot In the United States, Pimm’s is often enjoyed as a refreshing summer drink, especially in the southern states where the weather can get quite hot.

Seven Pimm's products have been produced throughout the brand's history, all fruit cups differing only in their alcoholic base. [16] Only Nos. 1, 6, and a 'Winter Cup' based on No. 3 remain in production. It was originally in 26 2⁄ 3 imperial oz. [757-ml] bottles, then made in standard metric 26.4 imperial oz. [750-ml] bottles when it started being sold overseas in Europe, and now is in 700-ml and 1-litre bottles. The beverages were originally a standard 60 Proof (or 31.53% Alcohol by volume), then curbed to 55 Proof (28.90% ABV) in the 1960s, and are now only about 44 Proof (25% ABV). The make-up of the panel broadly represents the demographic profile of adults in the UK. Originally blended by James Pimm as an aid to digesting oysters in 1840, Pimm’s was also sent out to soldiers, served at Queen Victoria's lunches, and ended up making its debut at Wimbledon in 1971. Here’s the recipe, and as mentioned, feel free to experiment with the fruit but please, don’t skip the mint or the cucumber. I put it all together, minus the ice, an hour earlier, to let the flavours develop, then just before serving, in goes the ice.
