About this deal

Written for outdoor enthusiasts and armchair adventurers alike, Never Give Up offers an inspiring path to help readers live their best lives. You get his philosophical musings and his can-do attitude and more of a sense of who he is as a person than you get in the television series. It was interesting at times to hear about some of the behind the scenes stories on his shows, but overall I just didn’t really feel invested in much of what he was saying about them (partly because I find them too Americanised in comparison to British shows). In Never Give Up, global adventurer, Chief Scout and TV presenter Bear Grylls immerses readers in some truly remarkable adventures.

He always seems to incorporate his life lessons and realistic views of who he is and what he is doing. There’s some self-reflection, but it’s mostly composed of short chapters (3 pages on average, I believe) consisting of amusing stories from Mr.An adventurer known for his many exploits, including crossing the Arctic Ocean in an inflatable boat and surviving many of the world’s most hostile deserts and jungles, Grylls is also a dedicated family man to his wife and three sons. Bear has suggested that these should be given at a special moment – perhaps at the end of the Scout term, the last night of a camp or after a challenge has been completed.

But it gives you great insight on how Bear got started in television, behind the scenes info and his personal and family life.He shares the life lessons he’s learned along the way, and how the skills needed to survive in the wild can be used in everyday life. He gives oodles of credit to his crew and those who helped him along the way, and his celebrity hasn’t gone to his head, even a little. The stories are written in a friendly, down-to-earth manner with much humility, but little structure. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Immersing us in the behind-the-scenes action on his celebrated television shows, and with a rare insight into his family life, Bear recounts his most death-defying and life-defining moments.

In these inspiring pages, Grylls chronicles his life since stepping onto the small screen, taking readers on his most famous adventures, sharing stories from his favorite expeditions, and capturing his hairiest survival challenges. It is also interesting to read about how the show was filmed and what they had to do to make it work, especially when the crew were dropping like flies. There’s a bit of language and some crudity; that aside, I found myself chuckling repeatedly at some of the stories and shaking my head in turn at Grylls’ shenanigans. Well, unlike a novel that has a story arc, this is simply a collection of stories about his experiences. Mesél arról, hogyan tudott elszakadni a Discovery csatornától, amire szinte mindene ráment, és hogy ekkortájt találta meg mély istenhitét. In Never Give Up, the sequel to Bear Grylls’ first autobiography, the British adventurer proves he still has plenty of stories to tell about life on television, his exploits in the great outdoors, and the people who have taken the journey alongside him.
