The felted cover is the perfect level of soft (some camp pillows go overboard and feel like you're sleeping on a sheep! Upcycled, premium foam filling provides a soft and yielding feel — and reduces waste from producing our self-inflating sleeping pads. The pillow features a baffled internal air bladder that you inflate by mouth with a twist lock valve, and then a fabric cover over that with a thin layer of PrimaLoft insulation for comfort and a little warmth.

Simply inflate it fully, lay on it, and let the air out until your desired comfort level is reached.

It's a great choice for extended adventures where ounces and pack space must be taken into consideration. I'd like to say I could put aside time for a project like this, but I'll be starting medical school next week and I don't think it's going to happen. The integrated stuff sack is conveniently sewn into the inside of the cover so that it can never be misplaced. We found it the most effective to hold the bag with both hands and shove the pillow into place with both thumbs. The result is a pillow that is soft and yielding like your pillow at home, feels big when cradling your head, yet packs surprisingly small.

At a fraction of the weight (less than 3 oz) and packed size, it still offers impressive height and cushion despite its ethereal weight. However, on the side opposite of the sewn in loop is a tag, which is sewn back upon itself to form something I could use – and by attaching a separately sourced small piece of cordage (something like a shoe lace is perfect, cut down), tying this into a small loop, then tucking the knot back into the NEMO label I was able to create loops on both sides. However, I definitely prefer flat valves that are one-way and don’t let air escape as you’re inflating. We decided to bring clever design and luxurious attention to an often-overlooked piece of gear, the backpacking pillow, which is essential to a comfortable night’s sleep. Nemo's Fillo Elite Pillow is not only small and lightweight, but also extremely comfortable to use thanks to the layer of Primaloft insulation.

The internal air bladder is baffled, slightly stretchy, and cradles your head to some extent (in fact, I think the smaller pillow will do better here). I also realized that bringing an extra fleece jacket to use as a pillow was likely taking up more space in my pack than just bringing a dedicated pillow.

As a side sleeper I found the height of the pillow adequate and the normal, non-luxury version seen here to be ample as far as size is concerned. ounces, it’s hard to complain, but if you like a pillow with extra height and don’t have anything to put on top of the NEMO, look elsewhere. This version of the Fillo is huge, with a 9cm depth and a huge area of cushioning to give you maximum comfort and the best nights sleep possible. The Escalante Route is reportedly one of the more difficult, non-technical routes in the Grand Canyon, but it offers a sampling platter for all the Canyon has to offer. I say this because if I turn on my side, my head pushes all the air out from underneath my head until my head lies on just the memory foam, which is only about 1 inch in height.

We decided to bring clever design and luxurious attention to an often-overlooked piece of gear: the humble backpacking pillow, which is essential to a comfortable night’s sleep. The Fillo's best use (as-is) would be for car-camping or people who don't mind hauling a 65+ liter pack through the woods.

You can bring it on an airplane, a long roadtrip, or use it as lumbar support, or keep it stashed in your pocket for an emergency nap. We designed the Fillo Elite with a layer of 100% post-consumer recycled Primaloft insulation, combined with a 3" I-beam baffled air cell and an ultra-soft jersey cover. We regret to say that we are unable to change the address or postcode on a parcel once it has been despatched.

You can bring it on an airplane or long road trip, use it as everyday lumbar support, or keep it stashed in your pocket for an emergency nap. Granted, I no longer use the foam or air, but that is purely because of weight and packability, not because of comfort.
