Set the seed bombs out in a dry location for at least a day or two, depending on the size of the bombs.

Your Seedball has everything it needs to grow and, once the ball becomes moist and the temperature is right, your seeds will germinate! Only combine seeds with similar qualities or habitat preferences, or plants that are known to grow well together. The amount you use to reach this consistency will depend on the absorbency of your chosen clay and soil.If you care for them, you’ll be rewarded with delicious herbs, beautiful flowers and/or perennials that will come back year after year. Once rolled, the seed balls are b est scattered in the Autumn, followed by Spring (but as a rule of thumb anytime except winter is fine).

It’s so easy – even the kids can get involved in creating more plant diversity in your neighborhood. The second part of its scientific name, dioica, means 'two houses', and refers to the fact that each Red Campion plant has flowers of one sex only, so that two plants are needed to make seeds. The clay gradually disintegrates when it is left to the elements and the compost helps the seeds to germinate. Dry them on a paper towel, and once they’re completely dry, cover the smallest hole, and insert the seeds in the larger hole. Seed balls have been a recognised technique for successful germination of strong plants for millennia.
