About this deal

One of my favorite things to study as a kitchen witch is the folklore and history of food. Did you know beer has been made for thousands of years and was once used to pay the laborers who built the Egyptian pyramids? Did you know that cheese has a magical history and is said to “en-spell” a woman when given a piece by a desiring man? The lore and origins of food will fascinate you and you’ll be able to include these tidbits into your kitchen rituals and spells. 11. Using Your Witch’s Broom Anywhere and everywhere!Though some of us may dream of that picture I painted in the beginning of this post, that isn’t for everyone. And it’s certainly not the norm. Kitchen Witches also pay attention to the influence of the cycles of the moon and other astrological events when they prepare food. For example, they may choose ingredients that correspond with the energy of a full moon to enhance the magical properties of their dish. Are you feeling the kitchen witch vibes? And if you already consider yourself one, do you have any favourite aspects of the craft? But particularly when you make food ritually, return any materials appropriate for composting to the earth. If you don’t keep a compost pile, simply bury them in the garden or the forest.

Thyme: Known for its ability to attract love and happiness, thyme is also used for courage and strength. Olive oil: Known for its protective and healing properties, olive oil is often used in kitchen witchcraft for anointing and dressing candles, tools, and other ritual objects.

Perhaps you plan to serve a season meal for a Sabbat. In that case, seasonal, natural decorations set a lovely mood. They need not be expensive. Simply take a walk around your neighborhood or yard. Summer wildflowers, winter evergreens, fall leaves; choose items freely available and abundant in nature. For centuries, Norwegians have hung this good witch in their kitchen. They believe she has the power to keep roasts from burning, pots from boiling over, and sauces from spilling. There are many herbs and spices that are considered essential to the kitchen witch’s apothecary. Here are some of the most popular and their magical correspondences: Crystals are placed with care around the home to create a peaceful energy, a broom is left by the door for protection, and sage is sprinkled across the entryway to keep out negative visitors. One is also deeply in tune, and connected to nature, and all of its beings. The kitchen witches I know (including myself) LOVE making magical teas, brews, infusions, tinctures and much more. Teas become offerings to gods and ancestors. Infusions and decoctions become spells in your cup. In addition, leaving tea leaves in your cup allows you to read the tea leaves to tell your future. This form of divination is called tasseomancy. Simmering potpourris, sprays, and powders can all be made in the kitchen by the kitchen witch. 10. Read about Food Lore and History

Then you might feel good taking on the term Kitchen Witch, even one in training. We are all continuously learning and evolving our craft. The kitchen witch often sets up and tends to a magical kitchen altar. The altar can be on top the kitchen counter, a kitchen shelf, or anywhere you see fit. Candles, offerings, and figurines can be placed on the kitchen witch’s altar. I’ve seen everything from vintage kitchen witches to miniature cauldrons and skull-patterned tea cups used candle holders! Make your kitchen altar a space for the kitchen gods and spirits and as a daily reminder of your unique practice. 7. Kitchen Grimoire To a kitchen witch, the entire house is sacred space.
