About this deal

A hugely entertaining access-all-areas account of a year inside Formula 1, from Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner, star of Drive to Survive, one of the most successful Netflix series of all time. We’re all competitive people and every person who works for every team on the grid obviously wants their team to do well. OK, so we’re not likely to win many races anytime soon. In 2018, though, Haas, who were, and still are, the smallest team on the grid, scored ninety-three points and finished fifth in the Constructors’ Championship. That’s not bad for a team that was also only three years old at the time. We’re not stupid. Literally get me an interview with Guenther. Two aries in front of a camera, I promise it'll be a good time. If you put Oscar on there too, you'll have three aries. With all our different personalities it's bound to be chaos.

Surviving to Drive’ provides an absorbing view into the world of Formula 1 for Haas fans and non-Haas fans alike, and the publishers must have rubbed their hands in glee when the many moments of chaos descended upon the Haas team in 2022. This is amazing. Guenther has a hilarious sense of humour, and I found myself laughing throughout 😆 It's such an easy read and gives such an insight into a year in the life of f1 drivers and team principals. The term “foking”, used frequently throughout, seems to have been partially invented as a result of the infamous “he does not fok smash my door” line from the Netflix series that has adorned many a T-shirt, but also as a way to avoid an uncomfortable question from the publisher as to why there was over 100 swear words within the book. For those afraid Steiner’s voice had been watered down though, fear not as there are plenty of s**ts to make up for it. Having watched the Netflix series Drive to Survive this account provides an interesting dimension to the F1 sport Than of course Mazepin and Uralkali had to go with the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.Guenther is a charismatic no-nonsense kind of a guy and the icing on the cake is that he narrated this. If he did not then maybe I would not have enjoyed it as much. Guenther Steiner is an Italian motorsport engineer and team manager. He is the current team principal of the Haas Formula One Team, and the previous managing director of Jaguar Racing and technical operations director of its subsequent incarnation, Red Bull Racing. In 2014, Guenther persuaded Gene Haas, owner of Haas Automation and NASCAR championship winning team Stewart-Haas Racing, to enter Formula 1. rounded up. I really enjoyed the behind the scenes look at Haas and learning more about both the history of the team and Guenther himself. Definitely reads like it should be spoken (bit cringey) and I’m not sure about the constant use of fok/foking (a joke taken too far?) His battles are not just consigned to the Schumacher family either with the FIA and McLaren also coming into the crosshairs at various points and the book gives fans an idea of just how petty and political this sport can be.Plenty here that is not covered by F1 or Netflix - a really great insight into the team and also into Guenther’s motivations. It’s clear from the outset who this book is aimed at: those fans of F1 who came to the sport via the smash-hit Netflix docuseries Drive to Survive. The clue is in the name, but also in the author. We look like a bunch of legends‘! Look I am not the biggest fan of Guenther Steiner but I tried to go into this book as objective as possible. Gernerally I love the idea of how the book is build and generally the idea itself. I would LOVE to read this sort of book of any other TP just to compare how different they work.

Written like a dairy, Haas F1 Team’s principal Guenther Steiner takes us on a trip through the 2022 Formula 1 season. I am not a biography type of guy, but being a Formula 1 fan since young age this was a must read for me. The dairy style writing makes it so that it doesn’t feel like a biography but rather feels like an inside view of a team principals mind. So and now to the F1 part. IDK I would have loved to have go into more depth. Like most of the things he wrote you knew. But I would actually LOVE to know what goes on in a team when a crash happens (lets be honest that why most wanted to read it) or how you handle talking to a driver, what you mention etc. Same with when a car faliure happens .Don't say "well wopps the car boke well anyway" but what do you say to the driver who had nothing to do with it, what do you say to the mechanics or generally how you handle that as a team principle. Going to interviews, talking to Communications etc. The new face of Formula One. The breakout star of Netflix's hit F1 series Drive to Survive. He is brutally honest. Sathnam Sanghera, The Times It’s the hard work of everyone on our team that has returned us to the fight in Formula 1 and I can’t thank everyone who’s a part of Haas F1 Team enough for their efforts and dedication. But Steiner’s thoughts will now be available for fans to read in the new book, published by Transworld and due for release next April.

As a positiv I really enjoyed the "side/ stories from the past". They gave an interesting insight into how you become an TP and how to work your way up the motorsport ladder. Fearless and candid... A gleeful guide to a bonkers sport from a loveable rogue insider.'
