Short answer responses to the perceived barriers to inclusion question reflected a wide range of perspectives among the PDs.On a more local level, the exhibition Looking for Lesbians that we created together was wildly successful drawing a varied audience from seasoned patrons of ONE to new students discovering our existence and collection for the first time. Faculty struggled with the case discussion activity because they didn't feel that they were ‘experts’ on the topic.

The development of core competencies may facilitate the inclusion of LGBTQ-specific health education in Doctor of Physical Therapy program curricula. The survey gathered information on the current and optimal number of curricular hours spent on equitable care for LGBTQ patients and perceived barriers to inclusion of LGBTQ curriculum. One limitation of this study stems from collecting data during 2 academic years to increase the sample size. The need for training programs to be proactive in acknowledging and supporting diversity was identified. Evidence suggests that health outcomes improve when healthcare providers are educated on the population-specific needs of their LGBTQ patients.Such inclusion would be in accordance with the APTA's Blueprint for Teaching Cultural Competence in Physical Therapy Education and encourage socially just care. To mark the occasion, Stonewall have partnered with DIVA to deliver a number of free events, across the week, centred around lesbian experiences.
