About this deal

I don't have a seperate subnet for WiFi and hard wired. I cannot connect my desktop PC to the Foxsat by cable as they are in diffferent rooms and I don't have an ethernet cable that long, the connection at present is using a tp-link Powerline kit. I could connect my laptop to the Foxsat by cable and see if that will connect. That's right I have done that and flagged non-freesat channels as freesat so I can see them on guide with 5000+ numbers but I can't seem to find an option to manually record them via actual remote.

You do however misunderstand slightly, it doesn't replace the software you have, rather adds to it allowing some standard Linux and other enthusiast devoloped apps to the box. This allows you to for instance view the recordings remotely on smart TV's tablets etc (technically you can a add a DLNA server). Also copy recording files directly to a PC for viewing anywhere.

Please note that if the normal loader software is not equipped, the product may not be updated or operate properly after software update. Don't know if this will help you, but I have my Foxsat HDR set to power on at 12:30 pm and off at 12:40 pm each day, set on CH HD (5001) Humax Foxsat-HDR review Best Freesat PVR, Awards 2010. If you're looking to take the plunge with Freesat, this is the way to do it – a great piece of kit I take it the box is the non recording Foxsat-HD and not the Foxsat-HDR that has a internal Hard Disk and can record. Instructions say press standby and other users say you need to press standby for around 30 secs. I've not updated mine for a while and I've always powered off and it's always worked for me.

The Humax Foxsat HDR has won numerous award since its release in November 2008. The Humax Foxsat HDR has won the 2008 Freesat Awards and has recently been awarded "Home Gadget of the Year" by T3. I have a Foxsat HDR running U7.54 and 1.00.21, and I can choose from the Settings menu to switch to Non-Freesat channels and manually punch in the channel number for Channel 4 HD (5203 or something like that). Software Update allows you to update the system software to maintain the proper performance of the receiver. Also your file says converted mine one says "unconverted". Perhaps that's the issue but if the conversion is only audio related, I can't see why it doesn't play without sound. Picture quality is generally impressive but far from perfect. Hi-def broadcasts on the BBC HD channel look magnificent, boasting masses of detail and a wide range of rich, vibrant colours – best demonstrated by clips of the Beeb’s beautifully shot wildlife programmes. Movement is smooth with minimal pixel noise and clean edge definition helps the image look crisp and forceful at all times. In a direct comparison with a Sky HD box, there’s very little difference in quality between the two, making this a superb way of getting hi-def channels.

Just to prove it's OK I've just scanned the Tp on my Foxsat-HDR and it's 100% in HD, 1080i, DD, has the 4HD logo and is showing an upscaled Frasier The HUMAX doesn't see the Ethernet info via DHCP, I've added the info manually and it doesn't seem to connect.
