About this deal

Below is an image that breaks down the card blanks we provide and their size in relation to an A4 size sheet of paper. Our card blanks are described by their measurements once folded — that is, the front-facing side of the card. For example, an A5 card blank is an A4 sheet — which, when folded in half, becomes a card with an A5-sized front. By comparing the dimensions presented, every size of paper from A0 down to A10 retain their proportions between width and length. This means the width of the A6 paper size is equal to the length of the A7 format. Similarly, the length of the A6 paper size is equal to the width of the A5 format. There really is no objective reason why anyone would choose A6 (105 × 148 millimeters) over A5 (148 × 210 millimeters) or A7 (74 × 105 millimeters) paper.

A better quality paper, usually available with a wove or textured effect, will work well in most projects from letterheads to insert sheets. This correlation between formats was first described in 1786 in a letter from the German scientist Lichtenberg, which details the advantages of a √2 aspect ratio. At 300 ppi (pixels per inch) the image needs to be 1240 x 1748 pixels. This is the required resolution for quality offset printing that will be viewed from a short distance (such as books, brochures, magazines, calendars,…). For photo books, it is also the optimum resolution but lower pixel count (down to 250 dpi) still gives great-looking photographs. The size of greetings cards and card blanks is measured by the size of the folded card. For example an A5 card blank measures 148 mm x 210 mm but is actually A4 sized when unfolded. SizeThat said, if you’re looking for a more traditional card size, you should probably choose a card that is sized A6 or A7. The typical greeting card or birthday card won’t be too far off from the A6 size.

A3 Plus, or Super A3 as it is sometimes known, is not an ISO 216 paper size. It has dimensions of 330mm x 483mm Below are two diagrams showing our paper and card sizes, giving you a visual representation of how A5, A6 and A7 paper sizes fit inside an A4 sheet of paper.

To output an image properly it needs to have a certain minimum resolution. The number of pixels depends on the required output quality.

ISO 216 standard, which includes the common A4 size used in most countries except Canada, the United States, Mexico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. In actuality the A3+/Super A3 name is quite misleading as this paper size is known as B+ or Super B in the United States The paper sizes bigger than A0, 4A0 & 2A0, aren't formally defined by ISO 216 but are commonly used for oversized paper.
