About this deal

and the illustrations don't really get across the impact of some of the things we're reading about (such as ghost photos etc).

Whether you are a ghost fanatic or simply piqued by curiosity, you’ll get a robust deep dive into the experiences of paranormal occurrences, alternative explanations for these occurrences, and our culture’s fascination with them. When it says it's a history book, it only ever briefly touches on each moment and each haunting, never sticking around long enough that you get any real depth. Some of the information contained in the book I was aware of but some was very new to me so although this was a fun read I would also say it was an educational read too.

Even after I’d finished reading I found myself flicking through the pages and just appreciating the quality of the book and its illustrations. It didn't go into as much detail as I'd hoped - I thought we'd get a few more in depth case studies/stories told in a more compelling way, but it was very much "here's the fact, move on" with some puns thrown in.

Sometimes the formatting was hard to follow, some pages the information went across and others it went down the page. I would have loved to read something like this when I was younger and in my first moment of awe and insistence of watching ghost hunting videos and shows and adamant that ghosts and spirits are real.Thank you so much to the publishers for providing me with an eArc of this book in exchange for my honest review. Although it gives serviceable descriptions of the content, it really just wets your lips before jumping to the next cool thing.

It looks beautiful as a ‘coffee table book’, the illustrations and fun and it’s definitely something for paranormal enthusiasts. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. This would make a fun gift for that friend that loves to watch unsolved mysteries or ghost hunter TV shows, or to those who are interested in dipping their toe into this area.Instead, Ghosts feels much more targeted towards much younger readers and offers a very high-level overview of a broad variety of things pertinent to ghosts, but never really leverages the spooky subject matter or the unique advantages of illustration to offer something more tangible. The book begins with providing definitions for the terminology that is used in the book such as what a ghost is, the meanings of myths and legends. Adam Allsuch Boardman has explored the world of ghosts in this volume in a visual and anecdotal manner that I don't think I've seen.

Whether you are a ghost fanatic or simply piqued by curiosity, you'll get a robust deep dive into the experiences of paranormal occurrences, alternative explanations for these occurrences, and our culture's fascination with them. I didn’t expect the book to go into such detail about things that I, personally, might not have even associated with ghosts (such as magicians). Through the decades, investigators and mediums have dedicated themselves to the task of reaching through the veil and contacting the other side. The author, Adam Allsuch Boardman is an illustrator and fan of trivia who has previously written “An Illustrated History of UFO’s”, and “An Illustrated History of Filmmaking”, both of which I’d be interested in having a look at. ISBN: 9781913123079 Author: Boardman, Adam Allsuch Publisher: Nobrow Publication Date: 1st September 2022 Imprint: Nobrow Cover: Hardback Dewey: 133.

As someone with an interest in this subject, I could follow it fine but I don't know how a new to subject reader would fare. The illustrations in this are lovely and this will make for a cute little coffee table book that can be a conversation starter. My favourite thing about this book is that whilst it is marketed as adult fiction and was perfectly suitable for 20 year old me, my 17 year old brother (who normally has an aversion to reading) sat down with it for 45 minutes flickering through and having conversations with me about how certain elements matched his computer games or things he’d seen on tv and we really enjoyed flipping through the book together because of this vibrant, sectioned format.
