As dictated by normal good painting practice. Do not apply if the temperature is likely to drop below 10°C during application or during the drying process. In confined spaces provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. Old paint finishes should be removed if flaking at all and the surface should be sanded to create a texture (also known as a mechanical key) prior to applying Resincoat HB Epoxy Garage Floor Paint. When preparing for a floor coat, doing so mechanically (shot-blasting or grinding) is always advisable for best results, but if that is not possible then sanding the area or our Etch and Clean is a good alternative. After the surface has been completely abraded, thoroughly sweep and vacuum the area of any remaining dust or contaminants. For more information on preparation, please see technical data sheet.

As many of our customers are classic car owners or business, we though that you might be interested in this small business which offers top quality and authentically made number plates. All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants. Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint. This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically using Coo-Var Acid Etch. These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance. The winner of our June #showusyourproject competition is a local flooring specialist, @purtfloor of Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent. After the products are mixed, and the chemical reaction has started, sometimes an exothermic reaction happens and the paint gets hot. But don’t worry, that’s perfectly normal. As long as the mixing itself was done slowly it’s all fine.

Epoxy floor paints are suitable for a thoroughly sanded primed surface and also can be applied directly on an unprepared coating. However, experts recommend pre-cleaning, degreasing, and drying the top layer. Careful preparation is essential to ensure good adhesion to smooth materials such as metal or plastic. If you use an electric paint mixer, also scrape around the sides and bottom of the tin to make sure it's all mixed in. When mixing with a mechanical mixer you need to be sure that it is set at a low speed. It may be tempting to crank up the speed to try and mix it faster, but the heat that will be generated from mixing faster would cause issues further down the line. The heat affects the reaction between the base and activator, and has a detrimental impact on the curing. Usually the pot life is only a couple of hours, so make sure you are ready to do the work before you mix the components together. The datasheets not only give you instructions on how best to use and apply the products, but they also give crucial information about mixing two components. The three main things to look for are: the length of time recommended to mix the product; the potlife after mixing the two components; and also whether or not an induction time is needed. Colours are sold in the nearest tin size but actual paint volume per tin may vary up to 10% depending on colour If the concrete isn’t too patterned then you could use the Car Park Paint https://www.floorsaver.co.uk/collections/exterior-paint/products/car-park-paint?variant=1224564211730 however if the concrete is heavily patterned you would just need to be careful and make sure the paint doesn’t pool where its indented. The problem with self levellers is that they are generally used as base for laying carpet, wood, vinyl or tiles over, they are not usually strong enough to traffic directly, therefore if you paint them the leveller would break up taking the paint off with it. Also, paint doesn't tend to bond that well to self levellers - sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Applying to hard, very smooth power floated concrete where paint cannot sink into the surface. If in doubt, tip a cup of water over the surface and see if it soaks in or not.
