Metcalf, Mitch (August 11, 2017). "Updated: ShowBuzzDaily's Top 150 Thursday Cable Originals & Network Finals: 8.10.2017". Showbuzz Daily. Archived from the original on August 12, 2017 . Retrieved August 11, 2017. The writing was beyond fantastic and it was never something I tripped over. What I loved so much outside of the love story was how thought provoking this was. It really made me look more deeply at myself and I think it raises some very interesting questions. As the book and Milton generations progress, some members of the family begin to evolve and examine the circumstances that they are surrounded by. The older generations did a lot of brushing their emotions under the rug that were unbecoming so as to appear respectable and not to create a fuss. The truth of very consequential events were also hidden and purposely not talked about. The regret this later caused and how this rippled through the family almost 100 years later put a burden on the grandchildren that they (in my opinion) were not willing to confront. A surprising plot and lots of twists with interesting characters. I loved the writing style and the setting of the story' With its keep-you-guessing story line and holiday setting, fans of domestic thrillers will devour' Heat magazine

The book cleverly highlights the extreme heat of Italy among the glory of the palatial hotel, and the rich and elegant visitors who frequent the place. That in itself is fascinating to read as the hotel has elevated itself to such a degree that only the very rich and prestigious will visit it. Leah, however, has feelings similar to Amy, and does not like the place or the people, but is unsure of the reason why she feels this way. The book started off pretty well with a really unsettling atmosphere when a couple of newlyweds get stranded in the coastal town of Saltwater when they’re on their way to their honeymoon. The storm, the strange vibes of the town and the weird behavior of owners of the B&B where they end up, were pretty disturbing. Add that Grace and Charles seems to be hiding a secret of their own and you had everything for it to be a fantastic read. A taut, clever whodunnit, masterfully structured, beautifully written, with an intriguing cast and some heart-wrenching moral dilemmas' Gilly MacmillanWhen Callum is upgraded to stable condition, the doctor insists that if he wants to be released from the hospital, it must be to a place where he has help. Joanna feels compelled, out of compassion and the guilt that haunts her, to open her home to him. He accepts. When they talk, Callum is cagey with his answers to her questions. Joanna is certain that he’s lying and trying to avoid talking about himself. What is he hiding, and can she keep his presence in her house a secret? As soon as they bury their son, everyone agrees that it’s “best not to mention it. Best not to dwell on it. . . . Some things were better off left unsaid.” I was very excited (maybe a bit too excited) to read The Other Guest so it’s a bit surprising that I found this an okay read, nothing wrong with it really, but there just wasn’t enough in it to get me really excited about it. I did enjoy the holiday setting in a lush 5* resort on a Greek island and Leila’s people watching. It felt oddly relatable although I don’t think – I hope not – I’m that much into it as Leila. The Milton’s, though are not above everything so no amount of their money or status could make them immune to tragedy, to unhappiness for some of them and there are some heartbreaking moments. This started out a little slow for me, but then I found that I was so pulled in by wanting to know all of the things that had happened to get to the present day where the grandchildren of Ogden and Kitty Milton are in disagreement over what to do with the island. I was pulled in by the writing as I was in a previous novel by Blake , The Postmistress. There was one chapter, Chapter Twelve that depicts the house and the island and the family over the years so beautifully that I found myself highlighting long passages. Garcia tweeted on September 12, 2019 that TBS had cancelled the series. [5] Cast and characters [ edit ] Main [ edit ] A] strong psychological thriller…Credible characters enhance the suspenseful plot. Cooper remains a writer to watch.”– Publishers Weekly
