About this deal

John Simm: from Life on Mars to death in Brighton, 6 March 2021". The Times . Retrieved 7 March 2021. A third series was subsequently commissioned in May 2022, adapted from the novels Dead Like You, Dead Man's Grip and Not Dead Yet. For this series, Russell Lewis stepped down as showrunner and principal writer, with former Whitechapel writers Ben Court & Caroline Ip penning two episodes, and prolific screenwriter Ed Whitmore penning the other. The series also features Sam Hoare as a new ACC, following the departure of Rakie Ayola at the end of series two. [14]

While Looking Good Dead most definitely doesn’t fall into category three of my case for the prosecution of Crimes Against Crime Writing and isn’t quite a photofit for category two either, the jury’s out on whether or not it quite deserves the ‘Get Out Of Jail Free’ card awarded for skill, flair and aplomb . Eighteen million people across the globe are familiar with the character of crime writer Peter James’ Brighton-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace: a complex man haunted by the disappearance of his own wife, now hell-bent on solving seemingly unsolvable murders and wrongdoings on his own East Sussex coast beat. James penned 18 books in the Roy Grace series, and both the first ( Dead Simple, 2005) and this one, the second in line published in 2006, have been adapted into feature-length films for ITV in the popular Grace series of crime dramas.John Simm on his new ITV detective drama, Grace: 'Nobody wants to see Covid on film', 11 March 2021". iNews . Retrieved 12 March 2021. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace has to solve a disturbing murder whilst protecting an innocent eye witness, in this TV tie-in edition of Looking Good Dead, by award winning crime author Peter James. TV and film include The Crooked Man, Like Father Like Son, Great West End Theatres, three series of Heartbeat, Doctors and in development, Agent 160 and Oscar’s Boys.

Grace star John Simm wants to adapt all of the Roy Grace books for TV, 24 February 2021". Radio Times . Retrieved 7 March 2021.Adam Woodyatt is the longest serving cast member in “EastEnders” having appeared continuously as Ian Beale since the show began in 1985. For his portrayal of the role he was honoured in 2013 with the Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2015 after the “EastEnders” 30th Anniversary Live episode, Best Actor at the British Soap Awards. “Looking Good Dead” marks Adam’s return to stage in a play for the first time since 1982 as a 13-year-old at the National Theatre in Tom Stoppard’s “On The Razzle”. In addition to “EastEnders” Adam has also appeared on many TV programmes including “Robot Wars”, “Dream House”, “A Question of Sport”, presented “The National Lottery” draw live and last year was a contestant on “Celebrity Masterchef”. He has also previously appeared in the pantomimes “Peter Pan”, “Snow White”, “Aladdin”, “Mother Goose” and “Cinderella”. All I can say is that this production was absolutely brilliant! The best play I've seen in ages .... all of the actors were fantastic ... a great story, great twist and just fab!!! I enjoyed the first in Peter James’s series starring troubled Brighton cop Roy Grace, and LOOKING GOOD DEAD is a sharp and punchy sequel. Unfortunately, as is likely the case with any crime story which makes its way to the stage, any character introduced to the audience is likely to have a significant part to play in the rest of the show. So, when American investor Jonas Kent (Ian Houghton) offers Bryce a solution to his cash flow problems, the convenience of it all is so obvious and stark – like a lot of this production – that the idea that he isn’t involved in the criminal deeds is extremely hard to believe.

The family life created on stage felt very authentic, with the constant squabbles and jokes. Tom Bryce (Adam Woodyatt) was a caring father figure and realistic argument maker, probably thanks to Adam’s many years in Eastenders. Kellie Bryce (Haynor Faye) was relaxed, fun and feisty and her son Max (Luke Ward-Wilkinson) the typical tech obsessed teen. Michael has over thirty ballet designs to his credit including The Sleeping Beauty, Quartet and Romeo and Juliet for Northern Ballet; and Madame Butterfly for the Hong Kong Ballet company. First pictures of Grace filming on location, 16 September 2020". Brighton & Hove News . Retrieved 7 March 2021. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace (played this time by Harry Long) features in another enjoyable romp through the darker side of policing, keeping the audience guessing with its plot twists until the very end in a production which certainly doesn't disappoint. Entirely entertaining first evening performance at Malvern , reminding tonight’s audience why we all love and have missed live theatre. Enthusiastically applauded by one and all who appreciated the reciprocal applause given by the grateful cast.

Whilst still working in the film industry Peter began writing novels, the first of which, Dead Letter Drop, was published in the UK in 1981. he made history when his 11th book, Host, was released on two floppy disks, making it the world’s first electronic novel. There is a copy in the British Science Museum. Learning that Tom has made a statement to Grace’s team, the killers have to act. But when they plan the murder of the Bryce family, it’s not just revenge – it’s entertainment.

Elsewhere in the city, when Tom Bryce finds a disc left on a train, he simply tries to do the right thing – return it to its owner. But this attempted act of kindness makes him the sole witness to that same vicious murder.Designer Michael Holt’s ingenious set is highly adaptive. A feature wall in a posh ultra-modern residence turns within seconds into a grisly pornographic film set. Overall, Looking Good Dead feels a little more lighthearted than I’m guessing James intended it to be, and a bit more school-play than you’d want from a serious thriller. When the serious thrills within the tale are allowed to come to the fore, they look good indeed; elsewhere, though, the production tends to overdo the Scooby-Doo in terms of inspiration for breathing theatrical life into this menacing drama.
