SNP MSP Welcomes £30m Investment in Young Scots

George Adam, Paisley’s Member of the Scottish Parliament, has welcomed news Scotland will have a dedicated Youth Employment Minister and invest an extra £30million in young people.

“Set against the doom and gloom vision painted by Scottish Labour, the SNP is continuing to fight for the future of our young people. At present, we have higher employment rates than the rest of the UK, but we can and will do more.

‘The announcement of a dedicated Youth Employment Minister and an investment of and extra £30million in young people shows our commitment young Scots in this turbulent time. In parliament, I recently spoke in the debate on youth unemployment. While Labour continues to speak of this so called ‘lost generation’, I refuse to be drawn towards this negative language.

‘We are getting 16-19 back into education and work. The First Minister’s announcement will be welcomed by the people who care about the future of our youth. The First Minister rightly said no young person should go through school just to become an unemployment statistic at 16. Hence, the new Minister’s priority will be to promote skills and work for 16 to 24-year-olds and to ensure not a single school leaver becomes just an unemployment statistic. The SNP is securing a stronger workforce for the future.”
