About this deal

Brilliant cosy Christmas read. I could not put this down! It’s one book that is more than just your lighthearted romance. There’s some really dark themes throughout with a big prevalence around death and lower working class society, but there’s also this huge sense of community in the book which is great. I will be rereading this book as I found the writing excellent and I couldn't get enough of the story. As Krys is known as Mrs Christmas she is in her element but as Brett is once again called away for work will her Christmas be ruined or could this be the start of a new life? A tough upbringing saw Krys taken to the Lakes as a young girl on a break for underprivileged children; where she saw her dream home. Now, as an adult, she's come across the same house and has rented it for the holidays.

Pour yourself a mug of hot chocolate and settle down in front of the fire with this perfect, uplifting festive listen! Philippa Ashley writes such great heart-warming stories and this is one to wrap you up in a warm hug’ NetGalley review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This means that Krys and Max both learn that success comes from being prepared to step outside their comfort zones, and be honest with themselves. Capricious weather and beautiful landscapes add zest, atmosphere and a real sense of drama to the story. The voice of the absent Auntie Linda I'd no plans to go within a million miles of anything to do with Christmas ever again. I just wanted to...hide away... Until now." I actually identified with the other main character, Krys (Krystle) so much. As a child, in a family that struggles financially, you always carry that feeling of helplessness and stigma with you into the rest of your life. That is not to say it controls your life, but I think it is always a part of decisions. Therefore I saw a kindred spirit in Krys.

Can she melt Max’s Grinch-like heart? And can he show her that life doesn’t need to go to plan to take you somewhere magical.... This really is just the loveliest story, gloriously Christmassy and quite beautifully told – the perfect setting too, and that community feel that I always love so much. My fondness for Krys only grew as the story built – and Max’s story is desperately sad, my heart really breaking for him over everything he’s been through and the immense effort needed to restart his life. But the story’s a particularly uplifting one, filled with love and warmth – as their relationship starts to develop (and I was willing them on every step of the way), they both become increasingly involved in the work of the local Mountain Rescue Team, with plenty of dramatic moments along the way.Krys and Max are particularly vivid characters. Both are carrying a burden from their past and illustrating how we can become defined in ways we never intend. A lovely, glittery Christmas story … A gem to read, this book is both festive and heart-warming … So enjoyable to read and extremely hard to put down NetGalley review⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Again a few things happen and Krys helps Harriet one of the home town residents with some preparation for Christmas. Wow, just the most perfect fabulous festive read, heart-warming, charming, a real tonic to add cheer and love to your day!… I really didn’t want it to end’ NetGalley review⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I enjoyed this wonderfully emotional story by Phillipa Ashley. She is a favorite author of mine and I think this may be my favorite book of hers, but I usually feel that way after finishing each of her books!

Linda’s philosophy of life is so uplifting, so affecting and embodies the true spirit of Christmas. The Christmas Holiday shows us how life truly is what we make it. This story really does give the reader a warm and happy glow. Joy in being part of a community Krystle (Krys) didn't have the best childhood moving from town to town with her mother. From a very young age she has dreamt of having the perfect family Christmas. Although this dream has eluded her she now ensures others can fulfil this desire, working with businesses creating amazing Christmas displays and sourcing perfect Christmas decorations for everyone to buy. Set in the stunning Lake District, Krys and her boyfriend Brett rent a manor house for several weeks on the run up to Christmas. It's the perfect 'Christmas card house' which Krys had seen in her childhood and had always dreamt of sitting by the log fire. Absolutely wonderful story that I couldn't put down… A wonderful, heart-warming, tearful and uplifting read. It has absolutely everything. Perfect for the Christmas season’ NetGalley review⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A huge thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for giving me the immense pleasure of reading the advance reader copy. MyIt’s set in the Lake District at Christmas time, but don’t expect white snowy England. You just never know what weather to expect in this little town! And there are some really emotional scenes, I think I almost ruined my book with tears at the “Santa” scene. Honestly.

I absolutely adore Phillipa's Cornish series and have read them all, so when I was offered a chance to read this Christmas novel I was really excited. These two were meant to be united, although it is not an easy road for them to find happiness together, but it is a romance, so the reader knows it will all end happily. This theme of self-discovery adds such a warmth and depth to The Christmas Holiday that it makes the story brilliantly suited to the festive season. Both characters find joy and happiness in being part of a community and in helping others in ways readers can identify with and emulate. And, alongside all that, Krys has plenty of opportunities to show why she’s known in the industry as Mrs Christmas – calling in every favour she’s owed to give the whole community a Christmas to remember. There are so many really special moments in this book – and not all of them involving reindeer, star-covered night skies (real or recreated), or Santa’s grotto – and it was a book that totally engaged me at every level, but especially at an emotional one. With her festive business booming, she decides to celebrate by renting a secluded house in the Lakes, with a plan to make this the ultimate yuletide getaway.
