About this deal

Whether it’s hardware, software or age-old businesses, everything today is ripe for disruption. Stay abreast of the latest trends and developments. From our origins as a small Wall Street partnership to becoming a global firm of more than 80,000 employees today, Morgan Stanley has been committed to clients and communities for 87 years.

Equity Research Analysts job includes both sell and buy-side firms that typically involve the different brokerage houses present in the market, Non-Banking Financial Corporation (NBFC), different securities firms, mutual fund companies, etc. This job is challenging as you would also compete with analysts at other equity research firms and want to keep your best foot forward. In research, the most senior team member is the “Analyst,” and below that are the “Research Associates.” Equity research is used in many areas. Primarily, these are the companies that need Research Analysts:

Our firm's commitment to sustainability informs our operations, governance, risk management, diversity efforts, philanthropy and research.

Invest your initial years in understanding the markets and practicing technical & fundamental analysis. But the bad news is that you will have to put in a good amount of effort to learn the skills on your own. Equity research is a highly competitive field to break into, but it’s also much smaller than investment banking and private equity, and the recruiting process is more random and unstructured. That smaller industry size and the historically lower turnover mean that it’s often difficult to advance in equity research careers by staying at the same bank. Many get into equity research, spend almost 5-10 years working and then look for analyst job positions in the industry.
