About this deal

While the characters in Lynn Nottage’s “Ruined” feel nuanced and singular, changing over the course of the play, the women here feel like predictable stereotypes. Of course, I have no idea what that might look like onstage, and the play's New York reviews suggest it was wildly successful in its mission and execution, so it's entirely possible (even probable) that my perceptions are inaccurate. Written with pride and bemusement by a dad who enjoys seeing his son’s career soar and remains sufficiently delusional to think that his soaring days are ahead. Read this book if you are interested in either Dom or Tom, in show business, or becoming a comedian, if you want a crazy family adventure or adventuring into parenthood yourself. It's an amusing, lovely book that lets its readers glimpse behind the scenes of a world-renowned musical, an impressive film production and, perhaps most importantly, a family whose story is for the most part unbelievable and ridiculous in all its coincidences.

Dominic Holland has been a professional stand-up comedian for over 20 years and has become one of the most regarded and respected comedians of his generation.Would not have read this without the Reading Woman Challenge, highly recommend this play, and the challenge. Our team of book enthusiasts is committed to helping you find the perfect read, whether you are a long-time fan of the genre or a newcomer looking to explore the worlds of science fiction. I blame parents who refused to watch anything other than the BBC, so growing up my exposure to comedy was restricted to the Two Ronnie's and the Chuckle Brothers. Of being seen at an otherwise inconsequential local performance and being asked to audition for the title role of a hit musical or Hollywood film. Narrated by the author, Dom Holland, with added conversations and anecdotes from Tom Holland, this down to earth, funny and heart warming story is a joy to listen to.

What is cleverly advertised as a story about the son, reads more like a love letter to his family and especially his wife. The problem with self-publishing is that authors don’t usually pay for judicious editing or know what editing they need.Little does she know, his thirst for vengeance is no match for his desire for a mate, and she's fallen directly into the cross-hairs of his animalistic lust. whilst at the same time seeing the remarkable emergence of a new Hollywood star – it’s two stories in one. This play didn't resonate with me as much as I thought it might, maybe because I'm unfamiliar with the conflict that looms over this play.
