George was first elected to serve as MSP for Paisley at the 2011 Scottish Parliament election. He was previously elected to Renfrewshire Council as the Councillor for the Paisley South Ward. He lives in Paisley with his wife Stacey. In the Scottish Parliament, George is the Chief Whip for the Parliamentary Group of SNP MSPs and holds the position of Parliamentary Liaison Officer (PLO) to the Cabinet Secretary Communities, Social Security and Equalities and is currently a member of the Social Security Committee.
