About this deal

The ad shows someone storing their sunglasses here, and it’s definitely the perfect size for this, but I wouldn’t recommend this. That’s an easy way to crush your sunglasses. On the durability and convenience front, the Fairview continues to shine. I’ve used it consistently and it’s yet to show any wear, living up to my expectations of the brand. The hip strap is also hiking grade. And even though this isn’t the best hiking bag, it does provide excellent hip support. That makes it a great choice for walking around cities and general traveling. Sternum Strap with a Rescue Whistle

The compression straps also add an extra layer of protection to the Osprey Fairview 40. They help hide the zippers, keeping your belongings safe from shady characters. Even though I could drone on about how much I love my Fairview for hours, don’t just take my word for it. Here is what some of the lovely ladies in the South East Asia Facebook Community had to say about theirs…I haven’t had any trouble with size on this bag in the US, Europe, or the UK, and I’ve yet to find an overhead bin it can’t squeeze inside. It even fit in the tester bins at the airport. Both the Osprey Farpoint and Fairview 40 are fantastic. They come in multiple sizes – try them on and make sure you get the right one for you.” – Gemma The Osprey Fairview 40 has a decent sternum strap. The strap actually looks a little flimsy, but it does a surprisingly good job of adding extra weight distribution across your chest. When I asked my wife if she had anything to contribute to the review, I received this text: “It’s just the right size for two weeks. Boom. Review done.”

But there are some issues to look out for before investing in this as your next travel companion. And this wouldn’t be an exhaustive Osprey Fairview review without talking about the pros and cons. I can’t bring myself to say this is a bad point because it is completelyoptional and there seem to be a few people out there who actually like it. The sternum strap keeps the shoulder straps in place and the load lifters help keep the top of the bag nicely in line with your body. There are internal and external compression straps on theFarpoint. The internal straps are for squashing your luggage down and holding it in place. I have to be honest and say, I never actually use these. I tied mine up the first time I used the bag and haven’t touched them since. My girlfriend, however, used the ones in her Fairview all the time and wouldn’t stop raving about them. Osprey is based in Cortez, Colorado. The company is surrounded by some of the most inspiring landscapes on earth! How could they not be inspired?

While I am a bit paranoid the shoulder strap is going to get caught in something (I usually wind it around the handle before stowing it), that fear has so far been unfounded. The Farpoint comes in 40-litre, 55-litre and 70-litre variations. There is also an 80-litre version available but the 40 and 55-litre models are easily the most popular. It’s also not the most expensive one you’re going to come across. Add to that Osprey’s lifetime warranty, and you can’t go wrong. Carry on dimensions tend to vary between countries and airlines, but bags under 22 inches are usually the safest options. I’m not entirely sure what you’re supposed to keep in here, but I often stash my keys or headphones here.
