About this deal

Once the sublimation process is complete, it’s time to remove the design from the white HTV. This section will cover the steps to take to ensure a successful removal process. Cooling and Peeling the HTV when applied with a heat press and washed at the lowest temperature recommended by either the garment or HTV.

As a general rule, if the surface is hard and smooth (such as walls, bottles, signs and mirrors), self-adhesive vinyl is the correct choice. However, if your surface is soft and can withstand heat (such as t-shirts, hoodies and bags), Heat Transfer Vinyl is the best choice. However, there’s no exception to this – When applying onto wood, Heat Transfer Vinyl often gives a better bond than self-adhesive vinyl providing it can be heat-applied onto. Heat Transfer Vinyl, also often referred to as HTV or Iron on Vinyl, is a simple, easy to use, durable and cost-effective way to get started creating professional designs, shirts and garments with less overhead than other design methods. We offer our HTV at competitive prices, so you can enjoy creating custom designs without breaking the bank. By following these steps to prepare the white HTV for sublimation, you can help to ensure a smooth and successful transfer process. With a little bit of care and attention to detail, you can achieve high-quality, professional-looking results that are sure to impress. We also need to preheat the entire shirt before sublimating. When the press is ready, fold the shirt in half the long way and place it on your pressing mat. Press it for 10 seconds to remove moisture and create a central crease.

There are a few basic steps to working with heat transfer vinyl, and I will walk you through each one. The basic steps to working with iron on vinyl are: For the white iron-on vinyl layer, prepare a green StandardGrip machine mat with the white HTV, shiny side down, and secure it with a brayer. Use the Layers Panel to make sure you have the Offset layer selected and change the Operation to "Basic Cut." The shape will automatically change to gray, which is fine. This will be my clear HTV layer.Next, trim away the excess clear HTV and the excess white iron-on and "weed" the designs by removing the excess vinyl around the outside edges of the solid design shapes.

Press the design at 385° F (196° C) for 55 seconds using medium to firm pressure just with your hands. When the time is up, lift the EasyPress straight upward. Remove the butcher paper but wait until the clear HTV has completely cooled before removing the film, about 5-10 minutes - this is a COLD peel. The next step in preparing the white HTV for sublimation is to trim and weed the design. This involves cutting away any excess material around the edges of the design, as well as removing any unwanted parts of the design itself. Once you have all the excess vinyl removed from your design, you can flip it over and see how your final design will look through the clear plastic carrier. This is a good time to make sure you have weeded everything you don’t want to transfer to your final project. 4. Iron!To preheat your vinyl, simply place it on your heat press for a few seconds before applying your transfer. This can help to ensure a smooth transfer and prevent any wrinkling or bubbling. It’s a simple step that can make a big difference in the overall quality of your project. A: When using an EasyPress, you’ll want to press your clear HTV at 385° F (196° C) for 30 seconds to apply it to your shirt, and then sublimate at the same temperature for 55 seconds.
