Ultimately, every design choice appears to stem from wanting to have a 15.6-inch display, but without considering if this was even a good idea. The dimness of the display makes it all but unusable anywhere but inside, and chances are that extra screen real estate is just going to give you more to look at in frustration when the app you're running hangs or slows down due to the underpowered hardware. This is clear the moment you look at its spec sheet, which offers up an Intel Celeron N3350 processor alongside 32GB of eMMC storage and 4GB of RAM. These are very entry-level specs, even by Chromebook standards. ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 is certified with ASUS WiFi Master for ChromeOS. You'd think that a chip with a TDP of just 6W and a display with just 220 nits of brightness should at least squeeze out some extra juice. Only devices that meet early access minimum requirements can run the game. The keyboard itself is relatively responsive and tactile, although there’s not as much of a defined travel to the individual keys which can make it feel a little flat at times.Elsewhere, this Asus Chromebook CX1500 model supplies a 64GB eMMC hard drive, as well as a 38Wh battery that can supposedly last 11 hours on a single charge. Of course, it runs on Google’s Chrome OS. This lightweight operating system places the onus on online applications and usage, though it’s not without offline functionality. The same thing is also true once you lift up the lid of the CX1, as you’re greeted with a compact 60% keyboard layout and an awful lot of empty space. Other laptops with this chassis space will at least provide you with a number pad, which would have been welcome here. For the money, you’re getting a 15.6in Full HD display with a 77% screen-to-body ratio. This display can also be laid completely flat courtesy of a flexible 180-degree hinge, which makes it great for sharing ideas with multiple parties.

For a larger display like this 15.6-inch panel, a low resolution doesn’t help matters, especially since the gap between pixels is noticeable when watching videos Disney Plus or Netflix. If you’re planning on working outside on a bright day, the Asus Chromebook CX1 may not be an ideal companion.
Given the CX1’s status as a wallet-friendly Chromebook, I had no real expectations on it to do anything but the basics well. This flexible display is connected to a full-sized chiclet keyboard with 1.4mm of key travel, so it should prove comfortable to type on too. The best thing that can be said about the Asus Chromebook CX1500 is that it has a solid number and variety of ports, which is good because you'll need to rely heavily on flash drives if you want to save files locally. With just 32GB eMMC Flash storage, there's very little room for lots of photos, videos, or Android apps from Google Play. The Asus Chromebook CX1 isn’t going to turn many heads with its design or build quality. While its silver colouring and smooth finish on the top surface look fine, I can’t help but feel underwhelmed by the way the CX1 feels in hand. By contrast to other more budget Chromebooks like the Acer Chromebook 314, it just feels generic.
On a brighter note, the screen bezel on the sides are small enough to make sure the CX1 offers up a good screen to body ratio. This also meant viewing angles were pretty decent. Performance For connectivity, you get Wi-Fi 6, two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and a microSD slot. That makes it better connected than many Windows laptops selling for several times the price. This puts it on the heavier side of the market, but I found it still feels pretty portable if you do need to take it on your travels. ASUS Chromebook CX1 keyboard is spill-resistant, not waterproof. Water damage is possible if the product is submerged or exposed to large amounts of liquids for long periods of time. ASUS standard limited warranty does not cover problems resulting from accidents such as water damage. To prevent water damage resulting from large spills or other accidents, ASUS recommends turning off the notebook, then tilting the laptop to drain away the excess liquid, wipe off and let it dry for at least 24 hours. But there's only so much you can get out of 38WHrs. With a laptop this big, there is plenty of room to accommodate a bigger battery, even just an extra 10WHr would have been enough to get us to maybe 14 hours.
