About this deal

The DeLonghi Magnifica Evo ECAM290.81.TB is a countertop espresso machine that offers a variety of features for coffee lovers. With a water tank capacity of 1.8 liters, it can hold a substantial amount of water, reducing the need for frequent refilling. This coffee maker allows users to choose between coffee beans or ground coffee as their preferred input type, providing flexibility for different brewing preferences. The coffee bean capacity is 250 grams, allowing for a decent amount of beans to be stored at one time. Once you add hot water or hot frothy milk to the Evo One Touch’s espressos, however, you’re unlikely to care: the result is a very drinkable cup of coffee. Any issues with bitterness are masked with the sweetness of the hot milk, or diluted by the hot water enough to make the flavour more appealing. Anyone who has ever used a DeLonghi machine should feel confident in being able to set up a new model in their sleep. From the bean container to the water tank, everything will be familiar, and the settings for coffee and milk foam are always consistent. You should think carefully about whether the foam-on-demand function is really a decisive reason to buy this machine.

The world hasn’t been waiting for this machine, but it is comparatively affordable and it performs really well. For starters, the front-loading water tank is easy to remove and rinse, as are the drip tray and used grounds container. I’d recommend getting into the habit of taking care of those components every day. While you’re at it, make sure to rinse the brew group at the same time. It’s essential to adjust grind size and tweak the strength dial to suit different coffee beans, but it’s easily done once you get the hang of it and, in any case, it’s something you’d need to do on any machine to obtain the best results. The espresso volume is preset to 1.4 ounces (40 milliliters) which results in a nice, strong double shot. However, you should reduce the coffee volume from the preset 6 ounces (180 milliliters) to 4 ounces (120 milliliters). I haven’t changed any temperature and aroma strength settings this time. Dark, chocolatey, full-bodied and also nice and hot: this is what I intended for my Coffeeness coffee and that’s how the machine presented it during my DeLonghi Magnifica Evo review. In fact, I would’ve been surprised if this fully automatic coffee machine had come at me with a particularly refined flavor profile. I guess the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo might not be the best bet for households with multiple coffee drinkers. There aren’t any user profiles to speak of, so you’ll be in constant danger of losing your espresso macchiato settings the next time someone uses the machine.

There are soft touch icons for all the drinks on offer, as well as a few icons for making adjustments. Of course, you’ll need to learn which buttons to press, and how long to hold them down, but that’ll take about 30 seconds! Grinder In terms of noise, this De'Longhi coffee machine measured 78db when it was grinding the coffee beans (which it does for every drink) and averaged 55db when it was pouring out the espresso. For context, 55db is about the sound level you'd expect from an electronic toothbrush but 78db is more in line with a vacuum cleaner. There is a steam arm and a coffee dispenser on the front of the machine and the latter is very easy to slide up and down so that you can fit a variety of mug sizes beneath it. This is a simple but very welcomed design element as many machines require you to move the drip tray to fit a taller mug beneath the dispenser. Milk frothing is a manual affair but the steam wand is designed for beginners. There’s no expertise required here at all, and even a complete novice can make a serviceable latte or cappuccino with minimal effort.

Apart from this pretty idea, the Magnifica Evo is one of the DeLonghi espresso machines obviously oriented toward a popular model from an equally popular competitor. More on that later too. If you need hot water for an americano, you have to remove the milk flask and exchange it for an extra nozzle, which comes as part of the accessories. That’s all there is to it! DeLonghi Magnifica Evo Cleaning The DeLonghi Magnifica Evo has a fully adjustable dispensing unit with two spouts. You can move the dispensing spouts close to your espresso cups when you want to preserve that rich, dark crema. As I was installing the milk carafe, I suddenly realized where I’d already seen this combination of sensor touch display and compact milk frother. Take a little time to get the settings just so, and the Magnifica S Smart rewards with consistently tasty coffee with the bare minimum of fuss. Factor in the handy strength dial, smart looks and good-quality build, and De’Longhi is onto a winner.

Included Accessories: Carbon filter, Measuring scoop, Cleaning supplies Removable water spout, Milk carafe. You can easily remove the DeLonghi Magnifica Evo’s brew group which is definitely a bonus. If you’re new to the world of super automatics, you should know that the brewing unit is where all the magic happens.

De’Longhi’s Magnifica Evo One Touch delivers tasty one-touch cappuccinos and lattes for a very reasonable price

Anyway, what really matters is that the Philips 4300 LatteGo is an awesome automatic espresso machine that really impressed me during my review. So, when you’re trying to decide between the two, maybe a coin toss would be the best solution!
