About this deal

Dame Washalot of whom we don't hear about all that much, loses her temper in one chapter and displays quite alarming strength by throwing the children, Moon-Face and the Saucepan Man up into one of the strange lands. That’s it - sherbet is so easy to make and I’m only now feeling anger at all the packs of Whiz Fizz I bought as a small child. Due to his lack of knowledge regarding the Faraway Tree, Dick has some more wetness added to his clothing because there happens to be a washer-woman further up who uses a considerable amount of water in her trade although the book doesn't tell us how it is piped up to her place of residence. There are a few versions and recipes online already, but I’ve kinda gone my own way with it, of course the general outline of how this was done can really be done with any particular bun recipe that you want.

Once an hour has passed and your dough has doubled in size, take it from the bowl and give it a quick knead before breaking it into roughly 12 equally sized pieces (first time I made this I got 9, second time 12, really depends how big you want your buns). Yet in the fourth book by Blyton, Up The Faraway Tree, Silky is introduced to Robin and Joy as a pixie: ″So Joy knocked—and the door flew open, and there stood little Silky the pixie. The tree also grows different types of fruit on its branches so there is plenty of sustenance for the tired climber who needs to keep on going up and up and up to reach the current land at the top.Mix together the bi-carb, citric acid and icing sugar - feel free to taste and adjust if you want it sweeter, more sour or more foamy. Spoon the glaze over the tops of the buns and either allow to sit and harden or eat them fresh and sticky. Bake buns for about 20-25 minutes - they should be a nice golden brown on top and slightly springy to the touch. Dame Washalot is her name and she gets rid of the spent water by simply emptying it down the tree so Dick learns another valuable lesson. There is also a visit to The Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe and you can imagine how uncomfortable that could turn out to be, and — "Is it a bird?

While the original description of Google Buns are that they contain a large currant filled with sherbet, it was really hard to find any currants bigger than sultanas around my local area, so I cheated and used dried apricots. After several more adventures, the people of the Faraway Tree need the children's help when they are invaded by an army of Red Goblins. Such exciting adventures are experienced that the children deliberately stay away from the tree every now and again just to get over them but eventually they're off again for more thrills. He has a slide in the floor of his little home and it goes right down to the bottom of the tree and it is just one of the attractions which supply the children with so many good times. They encounter a pair of rabbits, who dig a hole for the children to help them escape the land when they discover that the hole back to the tree had closed up after the ground turned above it. The last land they visit in this book is the Land of Birthdays, where the brownies and the inhabitants of the Faraway Tree celebrate Bessie's birthday.

There follows a big hunt and to make matters worse there is an invasion of the Tree by people from a rather horrible land which is visiting. The tree is so tall that its topmost branches reach into the clouds and it is wide enough to contain small houses carved into its trunk.A ladder at the top of the tree leads to a hole in the cloud where each land rests so they just climb it and Hey Presto! Line a tin with baking paper and allow it to hang over the sides - this will allow you to pull the buns out easily after baking. The main characters are Jo, Bessie and Fanny (updated in recent revisions to Joe, Beth and Frannie), who are three siblings. To make the ‘egg’ wash’ simply combine the 2 tablespoons of milk and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and brush over the tops of the uncooked buns.
