About this deal

A marvellous and funny fantasy adventureabout not fitting in and having the courage to face fears head on. Eddie and Emily visit London with their father, but one of the dragons slips away on a trip to the Natural History Museum. I also like that this one little boy named Edward Smith-Pickle goes all the way from Scotland to Mongolia but he’s still the jolly boy he always is, even when he is standing there in front of three blood thirsty dragons.

Booktrust wrote, in a review of The Dragonsitter, "From catastrophe to worse, this is the madcap and giggle-inducing story of how to tackle a pet with a difference, with energetic drawings to match", [4] and The Daily Telegraph described it as "short, sharp and funny. My favourite character was Eddie because he is adventurous and I liked the world of dragons he was in. I would have liked to have known more about the Dragons before, but then I've not read any others in the series. Fred comes from an exceptionally gifted magical family, but unfortunately his own wizarding skills are rather underwhelming. This is sophisticated storytelling in a really accessible format, no wonder the series has now reached number ten.The trip turns out to be every bit as exciting as you’d expect, and it’s only the arrival of Uncle Morton’s own dragons, Ziggy and Arthur, that prevents Eddie ending up as a dragon’s dinner. Edward has gone with his Uncle to Mongolia to see the mythical Great Dragon Battle Ceremony and meet Professor Baast.

The Dragonsitter Series by Josh Lacey - Goodreads

The cover looked interesting because the way the dragons are staring at Eddie made me want to read the book. The emergency chocolate packed in their biggest rucksack comes in handy during their trip but Edward wishes he had more. Josh Lacey is the author of many books for children including The Island of Thieves, Bearkeeper, The Dragonsitter and the Grk series. But wild dragons are not nearly so friendly as pet ones, and the inhospitable mountains are a dangerous place to be stuck with nothing but a pile of chocolate bars. But soon the fridge is empty, the curtains are blazing, and the mailman is fleeing down the front path.

I would like to read other books in this series because I really enjoyed the story and it was very interesting. From catastrophe to worse, this is the madcap and giggle-inducing story of how to tackle a pet with a difference, with energetic drawings to match. They went into a cave and found bones and they didn’t know what they were until his uncle got knocked out with a dragon’s tail and he woke up with a really bad headache.
