There are plenty of competing phones even at this low, low price point however, including the likes of the Moto G22 and the Nokia G21. As with a lot of cheaper phones, the Samsung Galaxy A13 has more lenses than you might expect, but the extra ones don't do an awful lot.

Samsung Experience on a Budget

In terms of brands, users of Android phones have the luxury of choice. The devices of two notable companies, Samsung and Google, are hugely popular options. The Google Pixel is renowned for taking great quality photos and comes with Google Assistant and Chrome OS. Amongst Google phones are the Google Pixel 7 Pro and Google Pixel 7a which allow 5G connectivity and an incredible storage stage up to 256 GB. The range of Samsung phones is vast, with the Samsung S21, Samsung S21 Ultra 5G, Samsung S21 +5G, and Samsung A12s as their offering. Amongst many improvements, this has an increased battery life and are 5G enabled. Some options also have PowerShare, which lets you use your phone as a wireless charging pad. Memory size - User memory is less than the total memory due to storage of the operating system and software used to operate the phones features.The wonders of waterproofing and dustproofing have not yet found their way down to budget phones, and the A13 is no different in this regard. You're not going to want to drop it in the sink or even get it caught in the rain. With an sRGB colour gamut coverage of 99.1%, a total volume of 129.3% and an average Delta E (colour variance) of 2.09, the A13’s display isn’t too shabby, and I’ve seen worse on recent phones at this price – here’s looking at you, Nokia G21.

Interestingly, even months after launch the price hasn't dropped much, perhaps because it's so cheap in the first place, so you're unlikely to find the Galaxy A13 for much less than the prices above. Network: The bandwidths supported by the device may vary depending on the region or service provider. Meanwhile, portrait images taken on the two phones couldn’t look more different. For some reason, the A13 has dialled up the contrast to a considerable degree, and you lose a lot of detail in darker areas as a result – just take a look at the hair resting on the shoulders in the bottom picture and you’ll see what I mean. Android (and One UI) on a budget

Whether or not you prefer a pared-down design is entirely subjective, but I can’t shake the feeling that Samsung could have done more here to make the Galaxy A13 stand out. Video is captured at a maximum 1080p resolution at 30fps, with an option for 720p if you’re being conservative with file sizes. No matter the resolution, however, there’s absolutely no form of stabilisation to speak of, so while footage looks detailed for the most part, it’s going to be quite juddery. The expandable storage helps you make the most out of a trip down memory lane. The A13 comes loaded with 64GB of internal memory, with room for up to 1TB more when you add a microSD card, so you can savour each smile, cherish every vacation and remember all the moments you’ve captured. Landscape photos such as the one below have a good amount of detail, with a great use of HDR and reasonably muted colours. The Nokia G21 in comparison looked overly warm in some instances, and while there was still a lot to like in the standard 1x mode, the 2x digital zoom is far superior on the A13.

Battery Capacity: Typical value tested under third-party laboratory condition. Maximum brightness is also pretty good, peaking at 483cd/m² in our tests, and the phone’s contrast is a respectable 1,082:1. The only downside is that this is a bog-standard 60Hz affair, so you’ll have to look elsewhere for silky smooth scrolling. The US version of the A13 gets a 90Hz display, but the resolution is only 720p. Especially when combined with the 3 GB of RAM, it performs abysmally bad with most tasks and gaming is certainly a pipe dream here. Unlike its 5G variant the Galaxy A13 5G, It only supports 4G cellular connections. The storage options consist of 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB - they are certainly not anything impressive, but thankfully it's possible to expand storage for up to 1 TB in capacity with a microSD card. And finally, the charging speed is capped at only 15W and the phone doesn't come with a charger. Galaxy A13: Price UK The Galaxy A13 comes with a 5,000mAh capacity battery, and with a normal amount of use that's going to last you a day and probably a bit extra on top of that – if you're really careful you can get two days out of this, thanks to the large battery and the less powerful specs running under the hood.
