Yellow Ochre. The ochres are natural mineral pigments, which are among the cheapest and most useful at the command of house painters. They can be used in any vehicle and are quite permanent, while they do not affect any other color with which they may be used. Sepia. This is a natural color used chiefly by artists. It cannot be imitated and it must not be used in oil. Description: Bowiea volubilisSN|11066]]SN|11066]] (climbing-onion, sea onion) is an interesting long living deciduous, perennial bulb. It is generally considered a succulent in the broad sense. The plants have many overlapping scales, which form tight, pale green, spherical bulbs that grows to 20 cm above the soil and to 25 cm in diameter (could take 70 years). The bulbs send up a twining fresh-green branched stem with few linear deciduous leaves. Dormant in winter, when the outer scales and many of the scale tips dry to a paper-like state, the plants burst to growth in late spring or summer, producing one or more very fast-growing stems that needs to be supported by a trellis or stake. The stems are covered with many leafless side-branches that may fall off. The small greenish-white flowers appear in spring. Two subspecies are recognized, the nominate form and Bowiea volubilisSN|11066]]SN|11066]] subsp. gariepensis (van Jaarsv.) Bruyns. Wunderlin, R. P. 1998. Guide Vasc. Pl. Florida i–x, 1–806. University Press of Florida, Gainseville.

Cambridge Red. Vermilion, to which is added about one twentieth part of Prussian blue, gives a color called Cambridge red. Rose Carnation. Mix together one part of rose madder and eight parts of oxide of zinc. This is a beautiful color, but the madder is too expensive for use except by artists. A very successful color can be produced from permanent crimson madder. Sienna Brown. The color is variously called sienna brown, teak brown, and other names. It is made by mixing burnt Italian sienna and French ochre with pure zinc. Fertilization: Fertilizer should be applied only once during the growing season, diluted to ¼ the recommended rate on the label. During October to March, water very sparingly, using only enough water to keep the foliage from shrivelling. Exposition: Likes light shade to part sun (it will take a few hours of sun without a problem), but adapts very well to shade too. Likes a bit of shade for best colour in leaves. It can overwinters well also under grow lights in a cool room of the house.Lime Green. This is sold ready for use, and is only suitable for distemper. It cannot be used with oil. Color name to color code (hex, RGB, CMYK) converter: Enter any known color name to find its color code Flowers: Single, starry, 6-lobed, diurnal, greenish or white 10-16 mm wide, scattered on the long twining raceme.
